This New Music Friday for May 1, was top notch! We got plenty of new drops this week to keep us entertained - and it’s pretty heavy on the R&B (just how we like it!)
Drake released “Dark Lane Demo Tapes,” a mixtape comprised of leaks, Soundcloud tracks and some new music. This tape comes after a few leaked snippets of never heard Drake and rumors that he’d be releasing something new. Drake confirmed that he’ll be dropping his sixth studio album in the Summer.
The extremely talented Jojo dropped her fourth album entitled “Good To Know.”
Nicki Minaj hopped on the remix for Doja Cat’s hit “Say So.” There had been some buzz going around that the pair had linked up and even an unofficial remix leaked. I love that these two have worked together especially since Doja has such a colorful style similar to Nicki’s.
On the topic of OG Queens working with new queens, Meg thee Stallion got the original H-Town Hottie Beyonce on the remix to “Savage.” In case you hadn’t heard enough of the song thanks to the viral TikTok challenge, get ready for the new wave. Plus, we hear Bey rapping on the track, which always entertains me. This collab made me so happy for Meg because she previously said Bey was the one person she really wanted to work with. Can we say manifestation?
Of course our girl, H.E.R. gave us a new single earlier this week with “Wrong Places.” The song was created on NBC’s show Songland and written by Raquel Castro.
Mahalia released a new EP entitled “Isolation Tapes.”
Trey Songz has a new single, “Back Home” featuring Summer Walker. The accompanying visual is of videos of Trey at home with his family, including his one-year-old son.
Another Summer Walker feature comes on the new remix to “Eleven” from Khalid.
YG dropped the song and video for “Laugh Now Kry Later”
