While Essence Music Festival was virtual for the second year in a row, some New Orleans residents got to participate in some on-the-ground activations during the live recordings. One of which happened to be New Orleans native Lucky Daye. Lucky performed an hour long set featuring many of his most loved songs including his duet with the legend Babyface, the ever popular “Roll Some More,” along with a medley of other songs from his “Painted” album. He also debuted a new one “Over” that we hadn’t heard before. This marked the beginning of the return of live music on a grand scale in New Orleans and we couldn’t be happier to have finally made it to this point. The concert was set up as a drive in where a select few attendees were allowed to view the concert from their designated socially distant parking area. Since the crowd was kept to a minimum, this was truly an intimate show which made it that much better. In case you missed the show, Essence has uploaded it to their site so you can watch On Demand here. you’d like to see Lucky live in concert, he’ll be a part of a couple upcoming music festivals including Broccoli City and Day N Vegas. In the meantime, check out the gallery of live performance photos shot by Kaitlyn Morris.
