Jazmine Sullivan performed live at The Fillmore Philadelphia with Sound Bites delivered by Grubhub. 150 lucky fans were able to attend the free show through sweepstakes on Grubhub’s social media pages - with some even winning a private meet and greet with Jazmine before the show.
Prior to her performance, Jazmine answered fan questions via Instagram alive where we she gave a little insight on her veganism journey, how she enjoyed quarantine, when we can expect a tour and about a future collaboration with Brandy.
“I love Brandy,” Jazmine answered a fan. “One day, when we find the right song - we’re gonna put it out. It’s gonna be amazing. Y’all know I love Brandy. With my whole heart.”
When asked when we’d be able to see her on tour, she reminded everyone of the current state surrounding the virus.
“It’s a lot going on, she answered. ”The Delta variant is coming in strong. I’m a little concerned with keeping everybody healthy, so we’re figuring it out.” We definitely want to see her live too - but we want to wait until we can do it right and safely.
After the Q&A session, she took to the stage in an all white pants and oversized long sleeve outfit with long flowing locks opening with “Bust Your Windows.” She asks the audience “After you bust the windows out his car, you gotta tell em to pick up his feelings, right?” Then she transitioned into the song that she continues to re-invent with every live performance - “Pick Up Your Feelings” followed by her latest single “Tragic.”
She then moves on to ”Girl Like Me” that she made with one of my personal favorites - H.E.R. - who she says is “one of the most incredible artists I’ve ever had the pleasure of working with.” She kept the audience entranced in her the whole time as she brought it back to her very first album with “Lions, Tigers and Bears.” Her powerhouse vocals were on full display as she sang through the most difficult runs so effortlessly as only she can. She carried on with “Let It Burn” before moving to her very first single “Need You Bad” to “Pricetags” before closing with “Holding You Down.” Ella Mai was also on the bill for the show, and performed after Jazmine. What a treat for the lucky fans who got to attend! I just hope that Grubhub decides to bring one of these events somewhere local. They are done in partnership with Restaurant Strong, which provides grants to local restauranta. You can watch the full recording of the show here.
