JAMNOLA: New Orleans' New Experiential Pop-Up

New Orleans is finally home to its own one-of-a-kind immersive art pop-up thanks to the masterminds behind JAMNOLA. JAMNOLA is a 5,400 square foot Crescent City themed exhibit showcasing works from more than 20 local artists. This passion project of two Bywater residents, Johnny Liss and Chad Smith, is an ode to the joy, art and music of New Orleans. Local artist collective Where Y'Art serves as a creative partner to the experience. In addition to boosting the cultural economy by hiring artists to create the space, a percentage of the proceeds will go to Trombone Shorty Foundation and Feed The Second Line as a philanthropic initiative for the first year.

The exhibit's 12 rooms are artfully crafted with plentiful photo opportunities that guests are encouraged to explore and share on social media. Guests will also have access to a personalized microsite that houses photos, videos and a "Cultural Concierge." This concept has been in the works for quite some time, but due to recent events, many features had to be reimagined to meet new safety regulations. You can read more about their commitment to safety here.

JAMNOLA opens to the public on August 1 and you can purchase your tickets now. Just in case you can't wait, take a look at what's inside:

“This has been an idea in my head for about 15 years,” said co-founder Jonny Liss.

Liss stated “in some of the rooms we want people to take home culture and learn something.” So curated history information is embedded throughout the exhibit space.

Using local artists has already proven beneficial. “Skye Erie, a royal float artist has been able to open her own art studio because of the commission from JAMNOLA,” Liss informed me.
