Giveon’s Timeless Tour | New Orleans

Giveon brought his sold out Timeless Tour to New Orleans’ Joy Theater on December 8. When the singer first announced his tour back in September, tickets sold out within minutes.

On the evening of the New Orleans show, fans waited in a line that wrapped around the block hours before doors opened. The general admission floor as well as the VIP balcony seats quickly filled up as a medley of songs from a DJ set filled the venue. Briggs performa nightly as Giveon’s tour DJ, but is also his brother with a fanbase of his own. The crowd, already knowing him by name, requested autographs and photos all night, to which he happily obliged. After about an hour set of current and classic R&B songs mixed with a some rap, the stage was set for Giveon.

He appeared from backstage in an all white outfit performing his song “The Beach,” an ode to his hometown of Long Beach, CA. From the moment he stepped on stage, the crowd sang every word along with him. The show was seperated into three acts, in between each, Giveon would exit stage before returning about a minute later. The crooner, known for his deep baritone voice, performed songs including “Still Your Best,” “All To Me,” “Like I Want You” and many more.

After a few songs, Giveon introduced the extremely talented group of musicians who make up his band. They each had their own time to shine throughout the show and greatly added value on the bass, keys, drums and guitar.

Giveon is a very interactive performer - constantly responding to “I love yous” and shouting out people he noticed in the audience. At one point, he asked if it was anyone’s first time at a concert, then brought a little girl on stage wearing a homemade Giveon hoodie. She was attending this show as her first concert along with her mother. He performed his next song along with the pair on stage.

Toward the end of the show, a piano keyboard was rolled out as he played along while performing his famous hook from Drake’s “Chicago Freestyle” followed by Justin Bieber’s “Peaches.” He wrapped up with “For Tonight” before thanking New Orleans and exiting the stage. He then returned for an encore following rounds of applause to perform “Heartbreak Anniversary.”

Giveon is currently on his Timeless Tour and has dates to follow through December 22 in cities including Houston, Los Angeles, Vegas, Oakland and Seattle.
