R&B songstress/ actress Coco Jones brought her What I Didn't Tell You Tour to House of Blues on a gloomy New Orleans night. Fans lined up in the rain to pack both levels of the historic venue for this sold out show. Proving that Coco can deliver both on screen and on stage. She also stars as Hilary Banks in Bel-Air, the 2022 reboot of The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air
The concert started a little after 8 p.m. with the opening act Simone, who fans immediately recognized as one of Coco's co-stars from Bel-Air. "Let's go, Lisa!" one fan yelled out to which she responded "I'm Simone tonight."
She performed a medley of original songs, and at one point suffered sound difficulties. She opted to sing her closing song, that she revealed she had just written on the bus, acapella. She thanked Coco for bringing her along on tour. "Coco is really my girl," she exclaimed. "Coco is really THAT girl!"
After Simone, the second opener Ebony Riley took the stage. Wearing black cargo pants, a bralette and long black braids down her back, her cool demeanor was reminiscent of Aaliyah. She also performed original music as well as covers of some well known hits like "One In A Million" and SWV's "Weak."
During her performance of her song "Save Me," she became emotional turning away from the mic to wipe away tears. The audience offered a reassuring round of applause. "I can't lie that felt good to get off my chest," she admitted. "But I ain't come here to be crying!" She quickly pulled it together to continue her set as she sang as danced working all corners of the stage.
Around 9:45, two tall, slender dancers sauntered to the stage in a choreographed sequence soon followed by Coco Jones. She approached the center of the stage wearing a gold glitter two piece skirt set and gloves in the same fabric material as her dancers. From the first lyric she sang, the audience backed her up word for word. She captivated the crowd with songs including "Caliber," "Plan B," and "Double Back." She also covered SWV's "Rain" and "Until The End Of Time" by Justin Timberlake who she admitted she is so thankful to for doing the "ICU" remix.
During her performance for "Fallin," she invited a fan on stage who she said was a guy she had the pleasure of meeting earlier that day. She sat him in a chair as she and her dancers gave him a lap dance. After he exited the stage, she performed her biggest hit and the song she said changed her life "ICU." She belted the notes, hitting every run like a seasoned professional while the audience acted as her choir.
She closed the show with "Crazy For Me" accompanied by a dance break and cover of Beyoncé's "Crazy In Love." She thanked everyone for coming and for the support since she was a little kid.
Coco Jones is currently on her What I Didn't Tell You Tour through September.
